Lends support to Hixon

This letter is to give my support to Bill Hixon for the Republican nomination for South Carolina House of Representatives, District 83 (North Augusta, Belvedere and Merriwether). I have known Bill since I came to North Augusta and opened my office in 1992. He was then and is now an advocate for small businesses in this community. Bill has a history of achievement and success that has helped this community become the great place it is to live and work. As a small business owner, he understands hard work and the commitment it takes to make a weekly payroll, empty office garbage, participate in community fundraisers, support the high school band and football team and many other worthwhile events that would not take place without the support of community business.

Bill understands the role of government and wants to bring the same common-sense approach he has used in his insurance and real-estate business to the State House, in Columbia. He has been on the right side of economic development, serving as the vice chairman of the Economic Development Partnership, and knows what it takes to bring good-paying businesses to our area and create jobs. The competition is fierce, and good businesses relocate to areas where the tax base is low and government spending is done within the limits of their checkbook. We need someone in Columbia that can enforce conscientious spending of our tax dollars and hold government responsible for unsuccessful financial decisions. Bill’s solid record of service, volunteerism and government roles make him ready to hit the ground running and apply his unique skills from day one.

He has spent his lifetime preparing for this opportunity by dedicating himself to his community and the personal relationships that he has built over the years. Bill is a trusted and admired member of this community, and those are values that people look for when deciding who they want to do business with. His lifelong commitment to Aiken and Edgefield counties is a characteristic that will serve us well in Columbia. Our community will be his first priority, because Bill understands what is important to us. He will bring a sense of balance to law enforcement, education and economic prosperity that will protect our interest, preserve our quality of life and ensure a voice for the issues that are important to this community. Please join me in supporting Bill Hixon as the next representative for District 83.
