Support for Bill Hixon

Dear Editor,

I am writing a letter of recommendation for Bill Hixon, a good friend of mine that is running as a Republican for the House of Representatives.

Bill is a well-known candidate that truly loves Aiken and Edgefield counties. He has spent a lifetime serving friends and family as an insurance agent and real estate agent in North Augusta, and he wants to serve even more in state government.

As a former educator, I think that Bill will be a direct voice for the people of our area to our state government. He will work for the representation that our area has received and will continue to receive for years to come. He will be a political servant for the people, and he will give us his best effort at all times.

I had an opportunity to teach Bill in high school, and I must say he was a good student that was everyone’s friend. During his high school years, he was a dedicated high school bus driver, and he was selected as the School Bus Driver of the Year his senior year.

Bill has a wealth of experience and a true record of service. His family values are strong, and he is what we need to help improve education and economic development in South Carolina.

In closing, one of my goals is to help Bill Hixon win the South Carolina House of Representatives District 83 seat.

Sincerely,

Rod W. Greenway

Support for Bill Hixon
NORTH AUGUSTA TODAY – Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

It is without hesitation that I recommend Bill Hixon to your readers for the South Carolina House of Representatives in District 83. Bill will take his common sense business approach to Columbia and represent our district well. Bill’s track record of public service and business experience are what we need to represent our area.

I have had the privilege of counting Bill and his family as my friends for many years. We literally have grown up together, so I have had a firsthand view of Bill’s dedication and love of community service. Bill has devoted many thankless hours of training and service to firefighting and being a South Carolina state constable. Bill’s interests in business surely come from watching and helping his parents build a successful real estate and insurance business that is known for caring and serving its customers.

Bill knows what it takes for business and our community to prosper. Bill has demonstrated his abilities in getting the job done in many civic and professional boards and committees that have directly aided our community in becoming a better place to live, work and raise a family.

I know Bill has his heart and his energy in the right place. We will be the better community for sending him to Columbia.

If you don’t know Bill, I urge you to visit his Web site, BillHixon.com or call on him personally and you will quickly understand his deep commitment to public service and to our area. Get to know him, and you will join my family on Tuesday, June 8, in voting for our next representative, Bill Hixon, the name we trust.

Sincerely,

Jody P. Rowland

Hixon dedicated leader

NORTH AUGUSTA STAR – Aiken Standard
Letter to the Editor

Hixon dedicated leader

I have known Bill Hixon for more than 35 years. He has been a dedicated leader strongly involved in civic, church and education in our community. He is a man who has never met a stranger and is easy to talk with. He realizes that no man is an island, and along with the guidance from God, we must depend on one another to gain knowledge and wisdom. For that reason, Bill asks for opinions of others and is a man who listens. He is kept well-informed through family, friends and the people in the community. That’s the kind of individual we need to represent us. Bill has a passion for making South Carolina a better place and is interested in the good of the people. He has the love for mankind, the time and talent to be a dedicated public servant representing District 83 in Columbia. I’ll be voting for Bill Hixon on June 8 in the Republican Primary and hope you will too.

Has confidence in Hixon

Has confidence in Hixon

This letter is written on behalf of Bill Hixon, candidate for House Seat District 83. I served as assistant to the president of Aiken Technical College for 18 years before retirement and had the privilege of working closely with Bill for six of those years. During my tenure he was chairman of the Aiken County Commission for Technical and Comprehensive Education for three years. As chair of the Commission, Bill was a very effective leader. He served on the Building and Finance Committee and played an important role in managing affairs of the college, including a budget of approximately $8 million, and approving programs that would create jobs for citizens who wanted a two-year degree or those desiring to advance to a four-year-degree. One of Bill’s passions was to develop programs to draw business and industry to our community, thereby creating more jobs. One of the highlights of his career was the development of a literacy program at the Graniteville Company. He witnessed adults who couldn’t read attain reading skills that enabled them to a better function in life. Bill would stop at nothing to help someone to better themselves. He worked effectively with two Aiken County Schools superintendents, Dr. Joe Brooks and Dr. Linda Eldridge. He also represented the college at meetings of the State Board for Technical Colleges. He served on the Commission of Higher Education — USCA and the Aiken Technical College Foundation Board as the college’s representative during his years as chair. He was responsible for the hiring process of the college’s third president. Upon completion of high school, Bill knew that he did not want to attend college. Neither did Sam Walton or Bill Gates. Instead, he chose to work with the real estate/insurance business that was established by his father in 1952. He has been a successful Realtor and insurance agent since graduating from North Augusta High School in 1976. Bill has served on many important committees and boards in our community and has always done an outstanding job. While Bill is not married and doesn’t have children, he has done the next best thing to help educate young adults. He has made himself available to fight for educational programs that will result in jobs and skills needed to survive in our ever-changing economy. He has a world of valuable experience that will help him make wise decisions. He is a proven commodity. We have seen him in action and know that he will fight for what is right and best for District 83. I wholeheartedly support Bill Hixon for House Seat District. 83. I hope that you will too.

Faith in Hixon’s abilities

NORTH AUGUSTA STAR – Aiken Standard
Letter to the Editor

Faith in Hixon’s abilities

“Bill Hixon, the name we trust” is more than a campaign slogan. It is a statement of confidence in a gentleman with a proven record of public and community service. He is a known commodity, so to speak. We have seen him in action over decades in this city, this county, this state. He has no hidden agendas, nor is he a one-issue politician.

Bill Hixon has expertise and experience in education, insurance, real estate, law enforcement and economic development, areas of significant impact on our daily lives. A few of many accomplishments: Education — Aiken County Commission on Higher Education for USCA, Aiken County Technical College board chairman, a product of North Augusta schools and an important player in the building of the NAHS Stadium; Insurance — Board member for Independent Insurance Agents, president of his agency; Real Estate — Owner and operator of his own business, Realtor of the Year repeatedly, S.C. Association of Realtors regional vice president, Legislative Grass Roots Realtor of the Year; Law Enforcement — State Constable, volunteer firefighter; Economic development — Vice chairman of the Aiken and Edgefield Economic Development Partnership.

Customer service and satisfaction is a hallmark of the business he and his mother have owned and operated for many years. Bill Hixon will focus on the customers — the citizens and voters — representing your viewpoints, not just his own opinions. He has sought my perspective on education matters. I appreciate his regard for “those in the trenches” — teachers and school employees. He believes in public education as the best option, therefore deserving support.

Bill Hixon is a man of faith and character. He demonstrates his interest in others, his compassion, his solid principles and his firm convictions daily. I know him as a Christian friend and fellow member of First Baptist of North Augusta.
Bill Hixon is a listener, a consensus builder and a man with connections. His years of service and public commitment are recognized statewide. He will go to Columbia prepared and ready to serve. Let’s put his experience and knowledge to work. Join us on June 8 in electing Bill Hixon, a man we trust.

Says vote for Hixon

Says vote for Hixon

I am supporting Bill Hixon, who is part of our working-class community. Being a longtime businessman, he understands the essential need to limit government spending. Bill supports local economic development and is currently working with the Economic Development Partnership for Aiken and Edgefield counties. Bill is an avid supporter of education, and he continues to maintain that there should be accountability in education spending.

When I was first introduced to Bill, he was a high school student, working part time for his spending money and working as a volunteer fireman with the City of North Augusta. Bill has continually proven that he loves his community and is willing to do what is necessary to improve it. Bill has never failed to give back to his community. This has led to his being one of North Augusta’s most valuable leaders. Bill always stands ready to listen and lend a helping hand to any person who needs his help, with no request being too small or too large.
In reply to Mr. Hooks’ letter dated May 13: Mr. Hooks, do you think the number of children and grandchildren a candidate has or does not have is a requirement for the South Carolina state representative for District 83? Do you want this election to be based on age, sex, religion or race? I have chosen my candidate based on qualifications. Why do you think three college degrees are necessary for this S.C. state representative seat? Based on history, a number of the most successful people did not have any college education. I am very supportive of higher education, and my hat is off to all who have the opportunity and the perseverance to obtain as many degrees as possible, but I don’t think that this necessarily qualifies them for every job.

When you go to the polls to vote, remember who is going to work the hardest for you, keep your taxes as low as possible and provide results at the end of four years. That person is Bill Hixon, the most qualified candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives District 83 seat. Every vote counts and all votes are needed. I urge each of you to vote on June 8.

Lends support to Hixon

Lends support to Hixon

This letter is to give my support to Bill Hixon for the Republican nomination for South Carolina House of Representatives, District 83 (North Augusta, Belvedere and Merriwether). I have known Bill since I came to North Augusta and opened my office in 1992. He was then and is now an advocate for small businesses in this community. Bill has a history of achievement and success that has helped this community become the great place it is to live and work. As a small business owner, he understands hard work and the commitment it takes to make a weekly payroll, empty office garbage, participate in community fundraisers, support the high school band and football team and many other worthwhile events that would not take place without the support of community business.

Bill understands the role of government and wants to bring the same common-sense approach he has used in his insurance and real-estate business to the State House, in Columbia. He has been on the right side of economic development, serving as the vice chairman of the Economic Development Partnership, and knows what it takes to bring good-paying businesses to our area and create jobs. The competition is fierce, and good businesses relocate to areas where the tax base is low and government spending is done within the limits of their checkbook. We need someone in Columbia that can enforce conscientious spending of our tax dollars and hold government responsible for unsuccessful financial decisions. Bill’s solid record of service, volunteerism and government roles make him ready to hit the ground running and apply his unique skills from day one.

He has spent his lifetime preparing for this opportunity by dedicating himself to his community and the personal relationships that he has built over the years. Bill is a trusted and admired member of this community, and those are values that people look for when deciding who they want to do business with. His lifelong commitment to Aiken and Edgefield counties is a characteristic that will serve us well in Columbia. Our community will be his first priority, because Bill understands what is important to us. He will bring a sense of balance to law enforcement, education and economic prosperity that will protect our interest, preserve our quality of life and ensure a voice for the issues that are important to this community. Please join me in supporting Bill Hixon as the next representative for District 83.
